Venezuela Pakt Buitenlanders Op Om Complot Tegen Maduro

Venezuela Arrests Foreigners for Alleged Plot Against Maduro

Authorities Accuse Group of Planning Assassination

Several individuals of Colombian, American, and Mexican nationality detained

Venezuelan authorities have detained a group of foreign nationals for allegedly plotting to assassinate President Nicolas Maduro. The arrests were made during an operation in the coastal state of La Guaira, according to Interior Minister Nestor Reverol.

Reverol claimed that the group had been planning an attack against the Venezuelan leader using heavy weaponry with the support of a foreign government. He did not provide details on the specific country allegedly involved, but said the plot had been "neutralized."

Among those arrested were Colombian mercenaries, as well as American and Mexican citizens who entered the country illegally. Reverol did not disclose the number of individuals detained or their identities, citing ongoing investigations.

Alleged Plan to Target Military Facilities

Authorities further alleged that the group planned to attack military installations in Caracas, the capital, to create chaos and weaken the government's control. Venezuelan officials have accused the United States of supporting the alleged plot, but the US government has denied any involvement.

The arrests come amid heightened political tensions in Venezuela. Opposition leaders and the international community have criticized President Maduro's government for alleged human rights abuses and the suppression of dissent.

Concerns over Due Process

Human rights advocates have expressed concern over the lack of due process for the detained individuals. They called for fair trials and access to legal counsel, raising questions about potential political motivations behind the arrests.

The investigation into the alleged plot is ongoing, and further details are expected to be released in the coming days. The arrests have sparked speculation about possible political fallout and international implications, as Venezuela faces ongoing challenges and divisions.
